NPCA Program Overview

General Contributions
General contributions play a pivotal role in providing the ongoing support that allows NPCA to fulfill its mission, develop strong programs and establish a strong voice for the Peace Corps community. Donations to the general fund are unrestricted and enable the NPCA to designate them for use where needed most.

50th Anniversary Fund
This Fund will help underwrite the planning and management of the upcoming milestone 50th Anniversary of Peace Corps in 2011. In particular, these funds will support initial efforts to organize an international celebration on the National Mall, June 23-26, 2011, as well as the development of plans for a policy effort to consider how Peace Corps might be modified to improve its effectiveness over the next 50 years and to develop a suitable place in the Washington area to share our experiences with future generations of Americans.

More Peace Corps Campaign
Contributions to this fund will help NPCA to launch a major campaign to re-invigorate, expand and provide new resources for Peace Corps. This effort will aim to influence the next President and raise the profile of Peace Corps through to the 50th Anniversary of Peace Corps in 2011.

Virtual Community Fund
Contributions designated for the Virtual Community Fund support NPCA’s efforts to create, develop and expand our online capabilities for our members and groups.

Advocacy Network
Donations designated to the Advocacy Network promote our efforts to advocate for Peace Corps values including fostering peace and promoting service, as well as an appropriate funding level for the Peace Corps and a humane and engaged U.S. foreign policy.

Global Education Program
Donations designated to global education support our efforts to strengthen Americans' knowledge of, understanding of and respect for the people, cultures and nations of the world. The Global TeachNet program targets K-12 formal education through its award-winning newsletter, weekly listserv and comprehensive website. Other efforts link Returned Peace Corps Volunteers to U.S. classrooms and promote engagement of NPCA affiliate groups in education projects within their communities.

James R. Collins Publishing Fellowship
Contributions made to the memory of James R. Collins, the late associate publisher of WorldView magazine, enable the NPCA to offer a one-year stipend to a graduate student in a related field of study to gain hands-on experience in advertising, editorial and online and print production aspects of NPCA's signature magazine. One fellow will be selected each fall from among applicants recruited from the Peace Corps community and from nearby campuses.

Loret Miller Ruppe Affiliate Award Fund
Contributions designated for the Loret Miller Ruppe Award for Outstanding Community Service enable the NPCA annually to recognize an outstanding affiliated group for a project that exemplifies the Third Goal of Peace Corps in bringing service back home. The purpose of the award is not only to recognize the outstanding work performed by groups, but also to identify best practices so that other groups may emulate these in their own communities.

Sargent Shriver Distinguished Humanitarian Service Award Fund
Contributions designated for the Sargent Shriver Award for Distinguished Humanitarian Service enable the NPCA to honor an individual Returned Peace Corps Volunteer who, after Peace Corps, continues to make a sustained and distinguished contribution to humanitarian causes either at home or abroad.

For questions about donations, please contact Kevin Quigley (president AT rpcv DOT org) or Emily Bello (operations AT rpcv DOT org).
